Township 7 Chardonnay Served to the International Olympic Delegation on March Visit to Vancouver

Corey and Gwen Coleman were very excited to receive a call from the 2010 Bid Committee office in late February, indicating that the 2001 Township 7 Chardonnay had been chosen to be served at a gala dinner held March 4th at Season's Restaurant in Vancouver in honour of the IOC delegation and a number of Canadian dignitaries, including our Prime Minister.

Township 7 Vineyards and Winery has been getting quite a reputation for their excellent Chardonnays (they produce an un-oaked version as well as a barrel-aged version) and Merlot , and limited quantities of both continue to be available at the Township 7 wineshop, at VQA stores, private wine shops in the Lower Mainland and in a number of Lower Mainland restaurants.

Township 7 has received a great deal of attention from the local media - here's what some have been saying:

“Township 7 Vineyards and Winery 2002 Chardonnay may not be a household name in the Canadian wine industry but we guarantee after you taste the Canadian Wine Awards White Wine of the Year you won’t soon forget the tiny Langley-based winery…. Our notes describe a wine long on style and one that shows some restraint. The nose is a mix of ripe apple and pear fruit aromas with just a touch of toasted oak and pineapple. It broadens out a bit on the palate with peach, pear and nutmeg flavours. The textures are creamy but the finish is relatively crisp with streaks of lees and flint in the finish.”

- Wine Access, October 2003

“Township 7 Vineyards and Winery 2002 Un-Oaked Chardonnay – My first encounter with a Chardonnay from the Langley winery was a pleasant surprise: good aromas of melony fruit; a gentle, natural touch of sweetness; all kinds of tropical fruit elements. From the initial aromas to the follow-through on the palate to the soft and silky finish, it develops beautifully in the glass….”

- Jurgen Gothe, The Georgia Straight, Sept 11-18, 2003

"The focus at Township 7 is on small lots and big quality, produced from carefully selected grapes grown in their vineyard and in the Okanagan. Look for small amounts of well made chardonnay and merlot in the early lineup…Of particular note is the 1999 Seven Stars sparkling wine, listed at $24.95."
