This Earth Week, we are thrilled to welcome some new additions to the Township 7 family, a dozen Rhode Island Red chickens! In our drive to be more sustainable in the vineyard, we have brought home to our Naramata Bench estate, chickens to help alleviate some of the pests we occasionally have in the vineyard. We do not generally spray pesticides for insects, so this will be a sustainable way to deal with cut worm larva. The bugs climb the vine at night and eat the buds so they will make great chicken food. In addition, we will get fresh, free range eggs for our staff. Win win!!
