A lucky break

We’re enjoying a lucky Friday the 13th! Bud break has finally arrived within the past week at both our south Langley and Naramata Bench vineyards. The cool weather so far this season delayed this annual rite of spring by a few weeks. This is an important time for vine development in which small shoots emerge from vine buds. In the vineyards, our team has been busy prepping them for some additional plantings of Pinot Noir at our Naramata estate in a few weeks. Similarly, at our Langley Vineyard in early June, we will plant more Chardonnay designated for our seven stars sparkling program.

With these spring activities, we have a new spring wine, our 2020 Viognier! Clean and expressive, this Viognier shows pretty aromas of honeysuckle, grapefruit blossoms, and lime zest. The palate brims with fresh fruit flavours of passion fruit and pink grapefruit. The finish is finely textured and refreshingly crisp. Made with grapes from two premium south Okanagan vineyards, this vintage was primarily fermented in stainless steel tanks, with approximately ⅓ fermented in 9 French oak barrels to add texture to the palate.
