Join us this Labour Day weekend for a delightful white, as we unveil our latest gem, the 2021 Benchmark Series Viognier. Crafted from premium grapes sourced from Fool’s Gold Vineyard in Oliver, this single vineyard wine is a testament to the expertise of viticulturist Richard Cleave, who planted the vines over two decades ago. Nestled on a western slope, the vineyard basks in the warm afternoon sun, creating ideal conditions for grapes to flourish. The sandy clay loam soil, generously peppered with rocks and gravel, ensures good drainage, while the site’s warmth allows for full ripeness, enhancing the fruit-forward aromatics and character that define this Rhone varietal.
With its rich and fragrant profile, this vintage of our dry Viognier boasts bright notes of pink grapefruit, zesty lime, and delicate honeysuckle. The luscious palate unfolds with refreshing flavours of passion fruit and grapefruit, enveloped in a smooth and rounded mouthfeel that will leave your taste buds dancing. Only 175 cases have been produced, order yours to secure some bottles before they’re gone.
Fabulous as an apéritif, we enjoyed pairing this versatile Viognier with roasted balsamic roasted chicken with fresh tiger figs.
In the spirit of giving back, $1 from each bottle purchased until September 7 will be donated to the United for BC Wildfire Recovery Fund. By enjoying our exquisite Viognier (and other wines), you’re not only savouring fantastic wine but also contributing to the recovery of our beautiful province. We invite you to savour the taste of excellence while making a difference in our community. Cheers to great wine and even greater generosity!
