Also in honor of the occasion, we’re releasing our 2022 Benchmark Series Pinot Noir. The name Pinot Noir means “black pine cone” in French, due its dark colour and compact, conical shape. Our single vineyard Pinot Noir is crafted with handpicked grapes from long-time growers Dwight and Arnie Gash’s Remuda Vineyard in Okanagan Falls. Their sustainably managed property has glacial till soils with abundant gravel and boulders allowing for excellent drainage. Ripe, dark fruit and firm tannins are developed in the warmth of the south facing, hillside site. A portion of the fruit was fermented in our concrete egg with the remaining amount fermented in stainless steel. The concrete added some minerality and roundness to the blend, while the stainless-steel portion added fresh red fruit. This vintage reveals enticing aromas of red bing cherry and raspberry, accompanied by a subtle earthy essence. The palate showcases an upfront fruitiness supported by savoury undertones that gracefully lead to a finish characterized by silky tannins. A Pinot Noir of nuanced and intricate character, seamlessly blending delicacy with complexity.
