Grape Stomping: A Barrel Full of Fun

With harvest now under way, a heartfelt thank you to the pickers that came to our sold out community pick in Langley on the weekend.  The grapes are now ready for crush, and we encourage everyone to come out and assist with our annual Grape Stomp on Sunday, October 30.  Enjoy a fun afternoon and get your feet wet in the winemaking process!  This was traditionally done in France as the “pigeage à pied” or “treading grapes by foot” in order to better extract colour, flavour, and tannin from the fermenting juice. It is a winemaking technique of “punching down” the cap of grape skins that forms during the beginning of the wine’s fermentation, all to the accompaniment of accordion music.

We won’t have accordion music, but will have live music by our “house” band, We Play for Wine, as well as a children’s play area, and new fall wine releases.  Come with a team or join one of ours. Admission is by donation with proceeds in support of Critter Care Wildlife Society.

Guests are welcome to bring a picnic or purchase from our local charcuterie menu. Bring your friends, sit by the fire and enjoy Township 7 wines — we’re open all day from 11 am to 6 pm.Grape stompNoon to 5 pm / Competition from 2-3 pm (Teams of 6)Please RSVP to Gail with your teamWear old runners or stomp in bare feet!“Monster Mash”For the kid in all of us, come in costume!Pumpkin decorating & Halloween colouringNew ReleasesSauvignon Blanc 2010, Rosé 2009, Syrah 2009 & Cabernet Sauvignon 2008Hope to see you Halloween weekend at our Langley winery…
