Yipee! We picked the first grapes of the 2018 season this morning under picture perfect harvest conditions — a mild, sunny day. The Township 7 crew brought in Chardonnay from Hidden Terrace vineyard in north Oliver, which is designated for the Seven Stars Polaris Blanc de Blanc sparkling wine. Our Winemaker Mary McDermott was looking for the ideal balance of sugar and acidity and the grapes are hitting all the right notes, with a beautiful clean and crisp acidity to them and refreshing green apple characteristics. Look for this traditional method bubbly to be released in 2020…
We are excited to also be harvesting Pinot Noir grapes this coming Tuesday for a new traditional method blanc de noir sparkling wine, which won’t be released until 2021. Stay tuned!
