What better way to celebrate the heavens than our just released 2020 seven stars Rigel sparkling wine! Named for the 7th brightest and one of the youngest stars in the night sky, Rigel is crafted in the traditional Méthode Champenoise style, where the wine undergoes a secondary fermentation or prise de mousse, in which we literally “capture the sparkle” in the bottle.
This single vineyard sparkling wine is crafted with Riesling from Fool’s Gold vineyard in North Oliver. Owned by Mark Antonello, a well-known vineyard manager, the estate was planted over 2 decades ago by his father-in-law Richard Cleave, one of the Okanagan’s most renowned viticulturists. The Western sloping vineyard is comprised of sandy clay loam soil, with abundant rocks and gravel, providing excellent drainage. Made with free run juice, it was fermented cool in stainless steel, enabling the retention of the most delicate fruit aromatics. En tirage was for 12 months prior to disgorging and adding a proprietary dosage, for an expressive, bright and delicious sparkling wine.
