Enjoy the fruits of our labour this Labour Day with our just released 2020 Benchmark Series Pinot Noir. This single vineyard Pinot Noir is crafted with grapes from long-time growers Dwight and Arnie Gash’s Remuda vineyard in Okanagan Falls. Their sustainably managed property has soil with abundant gravel and boulders allowing for excellent drainage. Ripe, dark fruit and firm tannins are developed in the warmth of the south facing, hillside site. The handpicked fruit was meticulously sorted and then cold soaked on the skins for 48 hours for optimal extraction of aroma and flavour compounds. The wine was aged in French oak barrels, the majority being neutral, for 12 months to ensure that the fruit and elegant tannins of this wine were not overpowered. A polished and finely textured Pinot Noir, this vintage displays aromas of dark cherry and fresh raspberry, complimented by a delicate earthiness. On the palate, the fruit up front is accented by savoury notes that finish with silky tannins, giving this well-structured wine good length. Only 400 cases made!
