Happy Cabernet Franc Day

Decanter Magazine writes, if Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are respectively, Bordeaux’s king and queen, Cabernet Franc is its prince. (Or perhaps princess given the feminine attributes often assigned to the varietal by Jancis Robinson and other renown critics.) Interesting positioning for this noble though often overlooked grape! Over the years we have crafted Cabernet Franc from different premium vineyards in the south Okanagan in both 750 ml and large format magnum sizes. Currently we have two wines from this delightful grape, our just released 2017 Cabernet Franc and sold out 2016 Reserve Cabernet Franc Romar Vineyard.

Both wines are critic favourites with the previous vintage our Cabernet Franc scoring six 90+ reviews by wine critics, including 90 points by Anthony Gismondi in the Vancouver Sun who writes, “This Cabernet Franc soars out of the glass with fragrant black fruit laced with dusty, savoury Okanagan spicing…” and Beppi Crosariol in the Globe & Mail rating it 91 points stating, “Full-bodied but light on its feet. Like a fleshier, substantial Loire red from a good year…”

Similarly, the Reserve was honoured with five 90+ ratings, including a 92 by Natalie Maclean on nataliemaclean.com who wrote, “A stunning BC Cabernet Franc. Wow. Just wow…”

Both wines are small lots with less than 700 and 200 cases respectively produced and are clubSEVEN exclusives. Cheers!
