Have some wine you’re saving for a rainy day or special occasion? How about celebrating the last weekend in February? This Saturday is “Open That Bottle Night”. With this cold spell, we plan to cozy up by the fire and enjoy a Merlot, our most popular red. We’ve just released the 2019 Merlot which shows abundant notes of ripe cherry and plum, along with spicy hints of tobacco and cocoa. It was crafted from three excellent vineyards: our estate North Bench Oliver’s Blue Terrace, with smaller portions from Remuda in Okanagan Falls, and Front Yard in Naramata. In Oliver the rich, rocky soils provide a foundation for superior grape quality. The grapes from Okanagan Falls contribute great structure, and fruit from Naramata adds complexity and dimension to the blend. Aged in American and French barrels for 18 months provides creamy caramel and vanilla notes, for a mellow the mouthfeel.
Have numerous back vintages of the same varietal? Invite some friends over and try a vertical. It makes for a fun and delicious evening to see how a wine changes in taste, colour and aromas over time as it ages.
We have select library wines (including our Merlot) available for purchase for our wine club members! Another great reason to be part of the club — with each vintage we craft, we hold back a small quantity in our winemaker’s cellar that will continue to develop in complexity, character and value over time. Periodically, these wines will be re-released to be shared with our valued wine club members.
