Just in time for Valentine’s we are releasing a new red and white, our 2018 Riesling and 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 2018 Benchmark Series Riesling is made with premium grapes from the Fool’s Gold Estate located in north Oliver, owned by Mark Antonello a well-known vineyard manager. The property was planted over 2 decades ago by his father-in-law, Richard Cleave, the Okanagan’s most renowned viticulturist. An invigorating wine, this vintage shows classic varietal aromatics of lime and nectarine etched with an underlying profile of citrus and honeysuckle. A lively minerality and mouthwatering finish accompany the delicately layered, dry palate. A fan of the critics, this Riesling was honoured with 90 points by John Schreiner, 92 points from Katherine McEachnie, and 91 points from Natalie McLean, who writes in nataliemaclean.com, “Gorgeous BC Riesling with aromas of lime zest, lemon sunshine and wet stone.”
Elegant with understated power, our 2018 Provenance Series Cabernet Sauvignon was primarily crafted with Cabernet Sauvignon from Raju Vineyard in Osoyoos. The southerly location close to the U.S. border provides the heat units for superior grape ripening. The wine was rounded out with a touch of Merlot from our Blue Terrace estate vineyard in Oliver. This vintage abounds with cassis, dark cherry and caramel, tempered with dried herb aromas and flavours. The blend of premium south Okanagan terroirs delivers a wine of complexity with a hint of minerality on the palate.
