Get hands on with harvest this autumn (or should we say feet?) at our south Langley winery. Our infamous annual grape stomp is back this weekend! Get your team of 6 organized and join in the fall fun. Prizes for best costume, best theme and best stomp. Plus your team receives a bottle of red or white wines to enjoy! See the fun from a previous stomp in this video from the Langley Advance Times.
Did you know that grape stomping is part of the method of maceration used in traditional winemaking? Instead of being crushed in a wine press, grapes are trampled in vats or barrels by barefoot participants to release their juices and begin fermentation. Grape stomping was widespread in the history of winemaking with reports dating back to the Roman Empire of the harvesting and stomping grapes at a Vendemmia (grape festival). Now of course it is done primarily for fun!
